Learning Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students can:

  1. identify the communicative purpose of an argumentative text;
  2. identify the issue and the writer's position;
  3. identify advantages and disadvantages of e-money.

Task

Activity 1 – Look, Think, and Talk

Look at the pictures of different payment methods:

QRIS – GoPay – OVO – DANA – Debit Card – Cash

Answer the questions.

  1. Which payment method do you use most often?


  2. What do you usually use it for?


  3. Which payment method is the most convenient?


  4. Which payment method is the safest? Why?


  5. Do you think people will stop using cash in the future?

Activity 2 Determine whether each statement is an Opinion (O) or an Argument (A).

A = Argument → a reason or supporting statement that can strengthen an opinion.
